Settings → Privacy →

MCPConnector
Customize → Connectors

High

Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini

🔑 The 4-part briefing formula — this is all you need

Role: You are...................................................
Context: I'm working on................ in order to...............
          The audience is..........................................
          The constraints are......................................
Task: Help me..................................................
Format: Length.......... must include.......... must not........

Techniques you can use immediately

  • Make it ask first: "Before you start, ask me 3 questions that would make this land best"
  • Give length as a number: "under 200 words" beats "keep it short"
  • Ask for options: "Give me 3 versions with different tones, and say who each suits"
  • The first answer is a first draft — go 3–4 rounds in the same chat until it's usable

⭐ Five checks before you submit anything

☑️Check
1Personal data — is there anything in what I typed that identifies a person, including indirectly in a small circle
2References — have I found every cited item for real, and read the actual source
3Professional facts — figures, dosages, guidelines, screening criteria: checked against the official source
4Thai context — does this actually work with my regulations and real conditions
5Accountability — if someone asks why I wrote this, can I explain every line myself

🚨 If the answer to 5 is "no" → it isn't ready to submit

🚫 Never type in data that identifies another person

PDPA has been fully in force since 2022 — civil, administrative and criminal penalties apply

⚠️ "Sensitive data" under section 26 — most protected of all

Health data · disability · genetic data · ethnicity · religion political opinion · criminal records · trade union membership biometric data (faces, fingerprints, iris) · sexual behaviour

→ If your work touches these, you are in the group the law watches most closely

Never enterWhy

⚠️ Removing the name ≠ safe

The law also covers "indirectly identifiable" data — no name, no ID number, but if people inside that circle can work out who it is, it still counts. The smaller the circle, the greater the danger.

  • "the only woman of 68 in the village on home dialysis"
  • "the only person in the department on maternity leave this year"
  • "the only pupil in the class who uses a wheelchair"

🚨 The most dangerous words are "only" · "sole" · "first"

If a sentence contains one, be especially careful

Test before pressing Enter: "If someone inside that circle read this, could they work out who it is?" If yes → drop the place name · turn numbers into ranges · remove any "only one" characteristic

✅ How to write it correctly

❌ Never✅ Write this instead
Patient Mrs Somsri Jaidee, hospital no. 6712345, aged 68, 45/2 Moo 3, Ban Na, phone 081-234-5678, type 2 diabetes, HbA1c 9.2%Female patient, 68, type 2 diabetes for 10 years, HbA1c 9.2%, lives with two grandchildren, mobile but has knee osteoarthritis, takes medication irregularly

⚠️ The right-hand column still has to pass the small-circle test — if only one person locally matches that description, reduce the specificity further (age as a range, drop family detail the task doesn't need).

The question that decides it, every time:

"If I removed this detail, would the AI help me any less?" — if the answer is "no" → remove it

About me
I'm a Master's student in community nursing.
My thesis is on [your topic]
I use [theory / conceptual framework] as my framework.
My sample is [sample] in [describe the area — no real place names]

What I always want from you
- Answer in English, keeping technical terms as they are
- Use academic register suitable for a thesis, not conversational
- Cite in APA 7th
- Always connect to the Thai health system (sub-district health centres /
village health volunteers / the "three doctors" system) and account for
the resource limits at community level

Rules you must never break
- Never invent a citation or DOI you aren't certain exists.
If unsure, say "you'll need to verify this yourself" instead of guessing
- If you lack information, ask me — don't guess on my behalf
- If what I'm asking has limitations, ethical risk or legal implications,
  warn me before answering
- Never add information I didn't give you into my writing

📚 The brief library

🔬 Research and thesis work

1 · Summarise one study

(attach the PDF first)

You are an experienced thesis supervisor in community nursing.
I'm a Master's student reviewing the literature on [topic]

Summarise the attached study under these headings:
1. Research question and objectives
2. Study design / sample / instruments used
3. Main findings, with the key statistics
4. Limitations of this study
5. How far does this transfer to the Thai community context,
and what should I watch for

Answer in English, keeping technical terms as they are

2 · Evidence table

(attach several PDFs at once)

Build an evidence table from the attached files.
Columns: author/year | country | design | sample (n) |
instruments | main findings | limitations

Then summarise three things:
1. Where the studies agree
2. Where the findings conflict
3. The research gap nobody has studied in the Thai context

⚠️ Use only what is in the attached files. Do not add from your own knowledge.
If a file has nothing for a column, write "not reported"

3 · Build a database search string

I'm searching for studies on [topic] in PubMed and CINAHL
Build me a search set, separating MeSH terms / keywords / synonyms
and write it as a search string with AND / OR, ready to paste
Say whether each set is likely to return broad or narrow results

4 · Sharpen the research question

Here is my research question: [paste it]

Analyse it using the PICO framework, then tell me:
1. Which parts are still too broad or ambiguous
2. Propose 3 sharper versions, with the pros and cons of each
3. What design each would need, and how long data collection would take

Context: I'm a Master's student with 4 months to collect data, working alone
The site is a rural sub-district; I reach participants through the
health centre and village health volunteers

5 · Check consistency across chapters 1–3

(attach your thesis draft)

Check whether the research question / objectives / hypotheses / framework /
instruments / chosen statistics are consistent with each other

Present as a table: item | what I wrote | problem found | suggestion

Focus on finding:
- objectives with no instrument measuring them
- hypotheses that don't follow from the stated framework
- statistics that don't suit the measurement level of the data

6 · Draft and review a questionnaire

Draft items measuring [variable] according to this definition:
[paste the operational definition]

- 10 items, 5-point Likert scale
- language a person with 4 years of schooling understands, no jargon
- flag which items are negatively worded and need reverse scoring
- point out any item that is ambiguous or double-barrelled

⚠️ If a validated standard instrument already exists for this variable,
tell me first, with its name and developer

7 · Interpret statistical output

Here is my SPSS output: [paste the table]

Explain in plain language:
1. What each value means
2. Which hypothesis this answers — accepted or rejected
3. What the effect size is and how to interpret it
4. Whether it is clinically meaningful, not merely statistically significant

Then write one paragraph suitable for the results chapter

8 · Choose the right statistical test

My data looks like this:
- Independent variable: [name + measurement level: nominal/ordinal/interval/ratio]
- Dependent variable: [name + measurement level]
- Sample: [n = ? how many groups? repeated measures?]
- Distribution: [normal / not normal / not yet tested]

Propose 2–3 suitable tests
State the assumptions I must check before using each
and what to use instead if an assumption fails

9 · Polish academic English

Polish this paragraph into academic English for a nursing journal

⚠️ Preserve the meaning exactly. Do not add information I didn't write.
Do not add conclusions or claims that aren't in the original.

Show two columns: original | revised
and explain below the table what you changed and why

[paste the paragraph]

10 · Respond to reviewers

Here is the reviewer's comment: [paste it]
Here is the relevant part of my manuscript: [paste it]

Draft a response that is:
- courteous, academic, neither defensive nor apologetic
- broken out point by point as the reviewer raised them
- explicit about what I changed in the manuscript for each point (which lines)
- for points I disagree with, a well-grounded academic rationale

⚠️ If any point needs information I haven't given you, ask me first

🏘️ Community work

11 · Prioritise community health problems

I'm a community nurse. I've collected data on a sub-district of
[population] people: [paste aggregate data — no individual names]

Please:
1. Analyse and rank the problems using these criteria
   - size of the problem
   - severity
   - how tractable it is
   - community interest and participation
Score each criterion with your reasoning
2. Propose the top 3 to tackle first, and why
3. Propose approaches achievable with sub-district health centre
resources and a village health volunteer network

12 · Write a health promotion project proposal

Draft a project proposal on [title] covering:
- rationale
- objectives (written SMART)
- target group and numbers
- activities, broken down
- timeline and work plan
- estimated budget, itemised
- success indicators that can genuinely be measured (quantitative and qualitative)
- evaluation

Context: rural sub-district in [region] · ~[amount] baht from the
         sub-district health fund · [n] months · [n] village health
         volunteers as the main workforce
Constraints: [e.g. older people struggle to travel / no shared vehicle]

13 · Write up project results

Here are the project results: [paste the data]

Write the results report covering:
- performance against the objectives and indicators set
- success factors
- problems encountered and how they were actually handled
- recommendations for the next round
- lessons learned

Use concise official register, easy to read, no padding

14 · Plan follow-up for a home-visit patient

[Sex] patient, [age], [condition] for [duration]
Key values: [relevant clinical values]
Household: [who cares for them / who lives there — no names]
Functional level: [mobile / housebound / bedbound]
Problems observed: [e.g. takes medication irregularly because they forget]

Plan the nursing care for [n] home visits over [n] months
- nursing diagnoses in order of priority, with supporting data
- nursing activities per visit
- who needs to be involved (family / volunteers / health centre / multidisciplinary team)
- indicators for judging real improvement

⚠️ Do not include names, hospital numbers, addresses or anything identifying

15 · Health education material / infographic

Create a one-page infographic on [topic]
for [audience, age, education level]

- very large type, high-contrast colours, an icon on every heading
- conversational village language, no medical jargon
- [n] headings, no more than 3 lines each
- must still be readable and understandable printed in black and white
- close with the 3 questions residents ask most, with short answers

16 · A script for village health volunteers

Write a script for volunteers to use with residents about [topic]

- conversational village language, not officialese
- [n] minutes to deliver
- handles the [n] objections we hear most: [list them]
- closes with an invitation that doesn't pressure or induce guilt

Lay it out in two columns: what to say | note for the volunteer

17 · A phone-friendly assessment form

Build a web page for the [assessment name] that works on a phone

- selecting answers totals the score automatically
- interprets the result using these criteria: [paste the interpretation bands]
- large type, large buttons, thumb-friendly
- a button to copy the result for pasting into a record
- works without an internet connection (no external requests)

🎓 Teaching and administration

18 · Lesson plan

Draft a lesson plan on [topic], [n] hours
for nursing students in year [X]

Include: behavioural objectives | content | teaching activities |
materials and equipment | assessment | timing for each segment

Favour activities where learners participate, not lecture alone

19 · Multiple-choice exam

Write [n] multiple-choice questions on [topic]
at Bloom's [knowledge / comprehension / application / analysis] level

Each question needs:
- a stem set in a realistic community nursing situation
- 4 options
- the answer
- why the correct option is correct
- why each other option is wrong

20 · Meeting minutes

From these rough notes: [paste them]

Write up the minutes, separated into:
- for information
- matters arising
- for consideration
- resolutions
- owner and due date (as a table)

Concise official register, straight to the point
⚠️ Summarise only what is in the notes. Do not add anything that isn't.

21 · Official letter

Draft a [type, e.g. request for permission to collect research data]
addressed to [recipient's position]
Subject: [subject]

Must cover: [list the points to address]

Use Thai official letter format, formal courteous register
No longer than one page

22 · Turn data into an Excel table

(attach a photo of the forms, or paste the text)

Read the data from the attached image and lay it out as a table
I can paste into Excel
Columns: [list the columns you want]

⚠️ If anything is unclear, put [?] — do not guess
⚠️ If a field is blank, write "no response" — don't leave it empty

Afterwards, tell me how many entries were unclear and where they are

Once you have the table → spot-check at least 10% against the originals before analysing

🔌 Connector vs MCP — what's the difference

MCPConnector
What it isThe shared standard for how AI talks to other programsOne individual connection you switch on
Real-world equivalentThe agreement that plugs shall be USB-C shapedOne USB-C cable you pick up and plug in
Do you see it in the Claude app?Never — it's behind the scenes✅ Clearly, at Customize → Connectors

👉 In daily use, you only need the word Connector

MCP is why the directory lists hundreds of Connectors — that's a matter for the people building programs

⚠️ Three questions before you click Connect

1. Does this account hold other people's personal data? → if yes, don't 2. Is this an organisational account? → if yes, get permission first; it isn't your call 3. Now that I'm done, does it still need to stay connected? → if not, disconnect

Having access and having the right to pass data on are two different things

Choosing a model

ModelLikeUse when
HaikuA very quick internEasy work, short summaries, one-line translations
FableThe most capable specialist (paid plans)The hardest work, where quality matters most
SonnetA strong, fast staff member90% of daily work — when unsure, use this
OpusA consultant for a hard problemPlanning large work, complex analysis, checking logic

Choosing an Effort level (click the model name by the send button)

LevelSuits
LowMechanical work — reformatting · converting tables · trimming padding
MediumDaily work — drafting email · summarising documents · polishing wording
HighThe best balance — work needing thought without a long wait
Extra highLong multi-stage work needing deeper reasoning than High
MaxWork demanding the deepest analysis, where mistakes aren't acceptable

Start at High → step down if it's slower than the task warrants · step up if answers feel shallow ⚠️ Don't leave it on Max — your limit drains fast and most work is no better for it

Thinking ≠ Effort — Thinking shows the reasoning · Effort sets how thorough it is. Used together.

Making your limit last

  • Finish a task and start a new chat — don't drag one conversation on for a month
  • Use Sonnet for easy work; save Opus for genuinely hard thinking
  • Hit the limit? Wait out the 5-hour window and it resets — no payment needed
  • ⚠️ Paid plans add a weekly cap on top — several heavy days in a row can hit it

⚖️ Academic integrity — in brief

(not covered in the session; kept here for those doing academic work)

✅ Acceptable

Polishing language · checking grammar · formatting citations · helping structure an argument · explaining concepts you don't follow · translating · checking internal consistency

❌ Not acceptable

  • Having AI write the whole thing and submitting it as your own
  • Listing AI as a co-author — journals worldwide refuse this (ICMJE), because an author must be able to take responsibility, which AI cannot
  • Citing anything without verifying it
  • Concealing your use where your programme or journal requires disclosure

📌 Before you rely on it

1. Check your own programme's or organisation's rules — they differ 2. Check the policy of the journal you're submitting to 3. If disclosure is required, state it in the acknowledgements or methods

🚨 The line you must not cross

General AI ≠ a certified tool

Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini are not approved by any regulator Nobody has certified that their answers meet any professional standard

  • ❌ Never use as the basis of a decision about health · law · finance · anything affecting someone's life
  • ❌ Never use to diagnose or decide treatment
  • ❌ Never trust a dosage calculation without checking
  • ✅ Using it to help think, draft, rewrite and summarise is entirely fine

Professional responsibility remains 100% yours, always

If AI gets it wrong, you are accountable — not the company that built it

📅 Your first 30 days

WeekWhat to do
1Use it daily on one small task — don't aim to be good, just make opening it automatic
2Drill the 4-part formula; force yourself to include all four every time
3Get your Project in order · load reference files · try connecting Google Drive (if it holds no personal data about others)
4Finish one real piece of work with it, then run the five checks before submitting

🎯 The goal isn't "getting good at AI" — it's "doing your own work better"

🔗 Learning on your own

  • All the slides from the session — [book.tobulab.com/ai-lecture](https://book.tobulab.com/ai-lecture)
  • claude.ai → the Help menu inside the app
  • support.claude.com — the official help centre
  • Just ask Claude"teach me how to use Projects". It teaches itself remarkably well
  • Stuck after today — pasin.tob@egat.co.th

Seven things to remember
1. AI predicts the next word — it doesn't "know" → so it invents, and always will
2. The 4-part formula — role · context · task · format
3. The first answer is a first draft — go 3–4 rounds
4. A Project is a permanent assistant that remembers your work
5. Never enter data that identifies another person — removing the name isn't enough; small circles give people away
6. Every citation must be found for real before it goes in your work
7. Accountability is 100% yours — AI will never be able to sign in your place
